Ashiatsu is a deep compression barefoot massage where the therapist utilizes parallel ashiatsu bars on the ceiling for support and balance. Using gravity and body weight, the therapist can deliver a consistent deep tissue massage with the feet. The broader surface of the foot makes the compression smooth and comprehensive and not bony or pokey like using an elbow, thumb, or knuckles. It's great for individuals who like the potential for broad, deep pressure, have chronic conditions such as back/hip pain, shoulder pain, or scoliosis. It's also extremely beneficial for cross-fitters, runners, cyclists, and all types of athletes looking for treatment and prevention of injuries, increased range of motion, fast recovery, and long-lasting results. It is our signature massage and all therapists are highly trained and qualified in Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage.
We provide stretching therapy and ROM, short for Range of Motion, as a stand-alone session (please wear comfortable yoga-like clothing). It may also be incorporated into any 60-minute, 90-minute, or 120-minute massage session. We use deep compression massage while taking your body through a series of passive, active, and resisted range of motion techniques that help increase their flexibility. Feel your holding patterns of stress and tension will melt away with each deep breath and stretch! This is an awesome modality for someone looking for a full body Thai massage or assisted stretching. It addresses many types of athletic injuries, chronic pain, and provides deep relaxation. Perfect for any size client and athletes love it! ROM sessions are NOT recommended during pregnancy or within six weeks of any surgery.
Janet Travell developed Trigger Point Therapy and was a pioneer in the research and treatment of myofascial pain. Clinical research has shown that trigger points (TPs) are often responsible for issues such as headaches, muscle weakness and pain, restricted movement and even dizziness.
An active myofascial trigger point is an area of hypersensitivity found in an abnormally tightened band of muscle that causes a referred pain and other sensations to other parts of the body. TPs form following acute trauma, chilling or chronic overload. When the involved TP’s are located and inactivated, the pain often disappears immediately. Effective treatment can be performed by massage therapists clinically trained according to the protocol outlined in Travell Trigger Point manuals.
Pregnancy massage is specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs. It utilizes a comfortable, secure side-lying position to avoid undue pressure on a growing abdomen and the lower back. The mother’s body is comfortably supported by pillows and bolsters. Latasha Clemons is certified and specifically trained in Prenatal massage with specific knowledge of the precautions/ contraindications during all stages of pregnancy. In addition to pain relief and emotional support, Prenatal Massage helps increase circulation and flow of nutrients to the placenta, aids postural realignment, provides relief to joints, helps relieve back pain, fatigue, and reduces swelling/edema. Pregnancy massage is also beneficial to postpartum in that it aids in the process of the uterus returning to its normal size, releases shoulder, neck, and arm tension from the care and feeding of an infant. Our floor barefoot massage technique may contain a combination of Fijian barefoot massage, Rossiter, and ROM. Fijian barefoot massage is a sports-type with specific deep pressure followed by a vigorous vibrational movement to larger muscle groups to activate weak inhibited muscles and encourage neuromuscular connections.
We combine this floor treatment with the Rossiter System® that was created by an advanced Rolfer to address structural pain, dysfunction, and immobility by addressing the fascia. It's a two-person pin-and stretch release technique where the therapist strategically anchors the tissue with their foot while the client performs specific motions and stretches. The therapist simply provides the pin and YOU control the movement and stretch so that you have an active part in your pain relief and recovery.
A great alternative for shorter sports sessions, clients who would prefer to remain clothed during the session, clients who prefer a session similar to Thai on the floor, or for public local events.
We use various types of glass, plastic, or silicone cups to glide or park over the skin to create space in restricted areas, release old scars, and fascial adhesions. Using suction and vacuum pressure also helps to increase blood flow to restricted areas, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and open lymphatic pathways from excess fluids and toxins. The discoloration you may see afterward is called a “cup kiss” or “doo-hickey.” This could indicate a release of intense stagnation of body fluid and toxins in the area. This is NOT a bruise and will dissipate anywhere between a few hours and a few days. It is also unlikely that it will re-occur in the same area. Beneficial for pain reduction, lymph drainage, scar reduction, athletic performance enhancement, sciatica, and neuralgia. It can be added to any 30/60/90 minute massage session.
A couple's massage usually takes place in the SAME room, at the SAME time, side by side, each with their own massage therapist. Couples massage is a great way to introduce someone to massage if they are apprehensive about trying it for the first time. They may be more comfortable and able to relax more for their first massage experience if they are not alone and with someone they trust. This type of experience can be a great bonding time for couples, a fun girls night out or even a special mother and daughter occasion!
